The Wicomico Teacher of the Year Spring Celebration was a very special night of celebrating top teachers as well as supporters from the community. Here are some highlights from the evening, including recognition of the 2024 Friends of Education, Peninsula Orthopaedic Associates and the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council. Thanks to both organizations for what they do to support youth both now and in the past.

On Thursday, April 25th, the District Spring Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting will be held from 5:30-7 at Prince Street School. Families that register for the event will receive dinner. Interpreters and childcare will be provided.

Today is the last day of instruction for Wicomico students before spring break. Schools dismiss 3 hours early today. The school system will be closed Thursday through Monday for everyone. On Tuesday, April 2, the Central Office and school offices will reopen. Schools will reopen for instruction on Wednesday, April 3. Have a great spring break!
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah Stauffer will hold a Superintendent’s Open Door Session 4-6PM Wednesday, March 27 to hear people’s concerns, ideas or questions on any issue involving Wicomico Schools. Invitations for the Spring PAC meeting and Heart Beats dance will be sent home this evening. Please join us for a heart healthy night full of fun, dancing, and activities for all! This event will be held on Tuesday, March 26th, with dinner being served during the PAC meeting from 5-6, and the dance taking place from 6-8.
Although there is no entry fee for the PAC meeting, tickets are $5 for the dance. Tickets will be sold at all lunch shifts starting today (3/15). NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR-NO EXCEPTIONS! On Tuesday, February 27th, these fabulous 5th graders attended our Spring Virtual Leadership Training. These scholars went on a virtual tour of Parkside's CTE program, Wor Wic, SU, and UMES. All received a certificate of completion and goodie bags!

Public comments during the Board meeting will be limited to 20 participants. To register for public comments, please visit the pre-registration page (https://board_public_comments.wcboe.org/), which is open from one week prior to this Board meeting, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, until one day before the Board meeting, at 7 p.m. Monday, March 11. Anyone unable to pre-register online may visit the school system office at 2424 Northgate Drive in business hours during that timeframe to fill out a paper copy of the pre-registration form. Anyone who pre-registers will be contacted by email prior to the Board meeting. The public comment section of the agenda is an opportunity for the Superintendent and Board to listen to individuals’ own comments on topics concerning Wicomico County Public Schools. The Board chairman has the right to limit public comments in length or those concerning personnel or student matters which clearly identify an individual or individuals, appeals or legal matters that are before the Board, negotiations and topics that are more appropriately addressed in closed session or privately with a staff member.
Only verbal comments are permitted during public comment session of a Board meeting. No signs or posters may be displayed by the public during board meetings. Written, printed, audio, or video material may be submitted via comments@wcboe.org.
